If our species is ever forced to abandon the surface and live in an underground colony, we might want to employ a few Ants as chief architects. As the following video shows they are capable of building huge and complex underground tunnel and chambers. No wonder the poor fellows only get 4 hours sleep a day! They have to spend the other 20 hours carrying dirt out and supplies or building material back in. Just goes to show though: that ants nest in your garden, it is just the tip of an iceberg!

Sharks are generally known as the kings of the ocean. Most documentaries keep reminding us that sharks prefer swimming out in the deep blue sea. And while this may be true for your great white and others, it appears some rare types of sharks do indeed prefer swimming closer to our habitat.

Here's a collections of potential useful and not-so-useful information on scorpions. Even if you aren't travelling anywhere exotic this summer, at least you'll have some good conversation topics. Not conversation starters though, using scorpions as an ice breaker is never a good idea!

A recent study conducted by a team of researchers from the Universities of Florida and Texas has concluded that the average worker ant has to put up with a life of hardship comparable to a slave belonging to Jabba the hutt. Indeed, in ant society, sleeping is for wimps. This is unless you are the queen of course, then you can dream away your day. You average worker ant on the other hand has to merely live on powernaps.
