Geometry Tutorials: How to calculate the surface area of a sphere

To calculate the surface area of a sphere, you will need to use a similar formula to calculating the surface area of a circle. The new addition is that you multiply the end result times four, giving you the full area of the circle area:

S = 4Πr²

So, the surface area of a sphere is equal to Pi times radius squared, times four. That should be easy enough to remember!
